@Steve: If you have used it in the last couple of weeks you might have noticed that it was giving errors all the time. Basically what happened is that the platform I was running on, Google App Engine, changed its pricing a lot, which means it would start costing me money every day to keep the site up and running. I had a free daily quota of database operations I could perform every day, but Google App Engine reduced that quota drastically, so I was using up my quota in a few hours and then the site would not work until the next day.

I like the site, but not enough to start paying money every day to keep it running, so instead I put up a simplified version that I already had running at shithead-cardgame.com.

I might later try to look into migrating the Facebook/multiplayer game onto a new platform, or optimizing it so that it stays within the free quota, but it might be weeks or months before I get round to it, I have numerous other side projects I work on, and Idiot isn't at the top of my list. Sorry.

Hey,

First of all, thanks for making this game. I really enjoyed playing it.

There is a bug in the system. If you only have the three last cards left, you can play them all in one time. You can do this by quickly pressing on all three cards.

Thanks!

It's also worth noting that you will always be able to play the old version at http://www.idiot-cardgame.com/oldversion/ , even after the new version comes out.

Hi Nicky

Actually you can:

1. To switch, click on one hand card and one faceup card. They switch. After that you can click on another hand card and another faceup card and so on. The only limitation is that you can just switch one at a time.

2. You can also play more than one of the same rank at the same time. The way to do that is to right click on the cards you want to play together and then left click on one of them. e.g. you have three aces, first right click on all of them and then left click once on one of them, they will be played together.

This isn't well explained in the beta, but when the real version comes out (hopefully in about 10 days) there are more messages and help and stuff.

Glad you enjoy the game :)

Thanks for the effort for the animated beta. However:
1) You can only switch 1 card at the beginning
2) You can't select the possibility of playing more than 1 card of the same value

I'll stick to your original (which I love)for a while. Again many thanks

Hi Steve, glad to hear you like the game. I am working on a new version that does a number of the things you mentioned. It will probably be out in about 2 weeks. What will definitely be in the next version:

 * Nicer playing cards
 * Login with Facebook
 * Track wins, losses, win %, average game length, average round count (requires login)
 * Publish results to Facebook
 * Comments page on the game site itself (Facebook comments)

What will possibly make it into the next version:

 * Choose between different playing cards, fronts and backs.
 * Track how you rank against your Facebook friends that play this game (based on win %)
 * Choose whether to auto-draw cards after you play (some people don't like it).

What will be in the version after that (at least a few weeks later):

 * 2 player games against your Facebook friends.

When the new version is published the /beta url will redirect you to the new version.

Ok.... I spend way too much time on this game but what can I say.. it rocks! Here are possible improvements..

- When the game finishes, win or loss, deal a new hand without pressing play and deal again.

- Keep track of wins and losses by the player, if not cumulative, at least for the current visit. Use cookies?

Thanks again for your work!
