The workshop "Cybercity and Communication" belongs to the prodject "Sight for a new century" which is a part of the agenda of The Department of Education in the Art Gallery of Iceland. The pupils that participate are thirteen teenagers from Hlidaskoli in Reykjavik. The workshop has been supervised by Asthildur Jonsdottir in the computer classroom of The Teachers University of Iceland. The projects purpose is to give young people an opportunity to put forward their ideas about the future with help from artists. Asthildur got three artist to work with the participants, they are Bragi Halldorsson, Gunnar Grimsson and Johann Th. Johannsson. The work was divided into two parts: First computer graphics and secondly work with the web on the internet. The URL for our web is: http://this.is/cybercity

The exhibition which is on in the Art Gallery of Iceland from 2nd of March until 17th of March shows the result of the work that has been done in six workshoops in four schools in Reykjavik from September 1995 until March 1996. The project is a cooperative work of five cities: Tammerfors, Trondheim, Malmo, Reykjavik and Kobenhavn. All those cities have six workshops working with the same media: Arcitecture, computers, movies, music , dance and paintings. The final work will be done in a workshop in Kobenhavn september 1996 as part of the culteral city schedule. All the teenagers from all those workshops will go to Kobenhavn where they will make the future city.

The five cities will exhibit at the same time in March 1996 and the shows will be connected with "See you, see me". The Nordic administration decided at a meeting in Reykjavik 1994 to sponsor this project. The Icelandic Ministry of Education and the City of Reykjavik also donated to the project. Many companies have as well helped out.
